Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has sacked long-serving head groundsman Jason Griffin plus his assistant and son Reisse, Daily Mail has confirmed.
Griffin has been at Chelsea for over 30 years. He became head groundsman in 2003 and led a team that included Reisse, who had held the assistant grounds manager position, and ran into double figures.
They were responsible for looking after the club’s playing surfaces and grounds at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea’s Cobham training ground and Kingsmeadow where their women’s and youth team sides play, earning industry acknowledgement for some of their work along the way.
Since Boehly and Clearlake Capital bought Chelsea from Roman Abramovich, wholesale changes have been made in numerous areas of the club including the hierarchy, coaching, playing, medical and now grounds staff.
